The synopsis

Octopuses are like aliens on Earth: three hearts, blue blood, and the ability to squeeze through a space the size of their eyeballs. From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker and National Geographic explorer James Cameronthe next installment of the award-winning SECRETS OF franchise returns with SECRETS OF THE OCTOPUS. The three-part series explores their unique superpowers, extraordinary intelligence and secret social lives. There’s so much more to these weird and wonderful animals that are intelligent enough to use tools, transform their bodies to mimic other animals, and even communicate with different species. Narrated by an award-winning actor Paul Ruddand with National Geographic Explorer, Wayfinder Awardee and science communicator Dr. Alex Schnell, SECRETS OF THE OCTOPUS will bring us closer than ever to these elusive creatures.

It’s no surprise that marine biologist Dr. Alex Schnell discovered her passion for wildlife while growing up on the coast of Sydney, Australia. While studying at the University of Cambridge in Great Britain, she studied the mechanisms in octopus, squid and squid. She is an advocate of the belief that once people understand nature, they will be encouraged to conserve it.

Adam Geiger has worn several hats throughout his career. As a director, writer, producer and director of photography. He has worked in projects such as Netflix-BBC series Living in color, Shark Beachand that of Nat Geo Secrets of the Whales And Boundless starring Hemsworth among several other projects. Geiger is internationally known as one of the best maritime filmmakers thanks to comfortable underwater camerawork

I had the chance to connect with Adam Geiger Alex Schnell via Zoom to talk about Secrets of the octopus. Schnell shared her underwater experience making an octopus friend, Scarlet, during filming. As Geiger discussed his experiences behind the camera and how he brought them to life for us as viewers. They both talked about James Cameron’s participation in the documentary and much more!
