The number of new car registrations increased by 12.2% year-on-year in March

Registrations of new passenger cars in Hungary rose 12.2% year-on-year to 12,895 in March, according to data collected by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), writes novekedes.hu.

Hybrid electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles accounted for 55% of sales. Cars with petrol engines represented 26% of sales and vehicles with diesel engines 10%. Fully electric vehicles accounted for 9% of sales.

In a statement issued after the data was published, the Ministry of Energy Affairs noted that the number of battery-electric cars sold in Hungary increased by around 80% in March compared to the same month a year earlier, the second highest figure in Europe. after Cyprus.

A total of 2,577 companies have applied for HUF 12.2 billion in subsidies for the purchase of 3,147 electric vehicles under a HUF 30 billion government program running until March 2025, it added.
