CityPay welcomes new director to the board

CityPay has announced the appointment of Steve Almond as the newest member of its board of directors.

With an impressive career spanning more than three decades in card acceptance strategy, product development and a proven track record of pioneering payment solutions, Steve (pictured) brings a wealth of experience and innovation to the CityPay team.

Steve Almond is known for his strategic vision and execution in the payments industry, having launched several groundbreaking payment solutions that have significantly impacted the industry. His notable achievements include launching Britain’s first online shopping centre, BarclaySquare, in 1995, and launching the first bank-managed Internet Payment Service Provider service, Barclaycard ePDQ, in 1998. Steve also designed and implemented the UK’s first mobile telephone (SMS). ) started a payment solutions business in 2002 as CEO of TxtOrder plc.

Under his leadership, Barclaycard’s e-commerce business experienced substantial growth, and he played a pivotal role in developing Barclaycard’s online and international proposition strategy.
