CID to probe Neha Hiremath’s murder, state to set up special court for speedy justice, says CM Siddaramaiah

In related news, Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers staged protests across the state, including in Mysuru, Tumakuru, Ballari, Haveri, Dharwad and Hubbali districts in connection with the 21-year-old student’s murder case. They demanded transfer of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and death penalty for the accused. The BJP claims ‘Love Jihad‘ in the incident and slammed the Siddaramaiah-led Congress state government, alleging a failure of law and order. The accused has been arrested and BJP national president JP Nadda on Sunday demanded a CBI probe into the murder.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai and BJP Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya held a joint meeting in the city on Monday in a bid to support the saffron party in the state. The two started their campaign at 8 am with breakfast at the Bengaluru Café in Jayanagara, followed by discussions on the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, Surya said via a post on X (formerly Twitter) .
