Appprintable celebrates its tenth anniversary today and has made a milestone six-figure investment.

Apprintable produces a wide range of products for direct customers, mainly in the beverage, events, catering and entertainment industries.

The company also produces business cards, flyers and posters through its website, with specialties including Tyvek wristbands, paper cup covers and other die-cut products such as hotel key card wallets and kiss-cut stickers.

Based in Wembley, London, Appprintable produces high levels of same-day work and is well positioned to turn work around and deliver quickly across the city.

Bringing work into your home

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, Appprintable outsourced 100% of its work and director Peter Haddad describes this period as “the real driver” for the company in its recent growth period.

Haddad took advantage of the Government Bounceback Loan and decided to invest in equipment, rather than using it to manage cash flow. “This allowed us to greatly increase our margins and continue to invest in our own equipment,” he explains.

“With more and more people going online, especially since 2020, we were already quite well positioned with our existing website and have continued to develop it and develop products that help us differentiate ourselves.”

As a result, the company’s pre-coronavirus turnover has increased by a very low margin from around £300-400,000, to just over £1 million in the 2023/24 financial year.

Significant investment

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, Apprintable has invested in a range of hardware, including a wide format Mimaki CJV330-160 eco-solvent printer with X/Y cutting and an Epson SureColor 2100 direct-to-garment printer.

In terms of finishing equipment, Apprintable has invested in a Morgana Pro 450 in-feed laminator, a Morgana BM4050 booklet maker, an Aerocut Prime automatic cutter/cutter/creaser/hole puncher, an Ideal 56 guillotine and a Vivid Laminating Technologies Veloblade Volta 64+.

For printing with sheet toner, Apprintable has invested in a Ricoh Pro C5300 and a Xerox Versant 280. Recently the company has just made a significant investment in a Ricoh Pro C9500, with the press now operational.

The investment in ASL’s Ricoh Pro C9500 marks a major milestone for Appprintable as its first six-figure upgrade investment

“This is a huge milestone for us as we just installed our first true ‘lite production press’ in the Xerox Versant 280 in August 2022, and it is our first six-figure spend on an upgrade,” said Haddad.

After temporarily installing a Ricoh Pro C9100 to help the business through the winter period, Haddad explains that once financing for the 9500 was secured, the switch was quick and easy.

“It was an easy decision because it was largely based on capacity and reliability. We would reach our ceiling quite quickly because of our continued growth trajectory towards the end of this year for everything else.”

A seamless process

Haddad praised Ricoh during the installation process and gave special mention to technicians Brian McBean and Richard Parrot, who completed the installation in just one day instead of three.

Apprintable has invested in this new technology through its relationship with ASL and Haddad describes the company as “a natural partner for us” and praised their care and understanding of the company and its direction.

Having moved from outsourcing 100% of work pre-pandemic to running more than 15 parts in-house and achieving over £1m in the 2023/24 financial year, it’s an exciting future for Appprintable as it is celebrating its tenth anniversary.
