Patrick Mahomes indicates when he will be ready to retire from the NFL

Patrick Mahomes never wants his NFL career to prevent him from spending time with his family.

“I looked at it: if I played up to Tom (Brady’s) age, my daughter would be 19, 20 years old,” the 28-year-old quarterback said Time in an interview published on Tuesday, April 16. “I would like to play that long. At the same time, I want to be there for my daughter. If that works, I’ll keep playing. But if I feel like it’s taking up my family time, then I know it’s time to go.”

Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl winner, recently led the Kansas City Chiefs to their second consecutive championship, beating the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas in February. Brady played 23 seasons in the NFL and won seven Super Bowls before retiring last year.

“Tom has twisted people’s brains about how hard that is to do because he took such good care of his body,” Patrick added. “So I’m about to make sure I get rid of this dad if I want to play until 45.”

Family time is important to Patrick and Brittany, 28, despite their busy careers. In March, the couple celebrated Easter in a traditional way.

Brittany took to Instagram to share a carousel of photos of the couple posing in front of a pool, wearing blue outfits and holding their children. Brittany also shared a glimpse of the little ones in blue plaid attire.

The children took part in an Easter egg hunt, during which Bronze discovered a golden egg next to a flower pot.

“You found it!” Brittany exclaimed in an adorable video as she encouraged her son to put the egg in his basket. “Well done!”

The couple, high school sweethearts, welcomed Sterling in February 2021, six months after their engagement. They tied the knot in March 2022 and welcomed Bronze eight months later.

Since becoming a family of four, Patrick and Brittany have discussed the importance of spending quality time with their children during the NFL season.

“We love spending time as a family,” Brittany said at the August 2023 ESPYs, while Patrick added, “I call this the real season for me when I have two kids at home.”

Patrick previously talked about the ‘different perspective’ he received as a father during a performance in February 2023 Good morning America. “You enjoy every day so much more,” he said, adding: “When you have them, the years fly by and I just try to do what I can to enjoy the little moments.”
