‘Affectionate’ hanger-on looking for a forever home after 176 days of adoption

A new appeal has been launched for a dog that has been up for adoption for almost 200 days of “little interest”.

The Scottish SPCA has launched a new appeal for a young thief named Crypto at their Angus, Fife and Tayside Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

The ‘sweet and affectionate’ dog has been at the rehoming center for 176 days, but has received ‘little interest’ from people looking to adopt.

Rebecca Raitt, senior zookeeper, said that despite Crypto’s “challenging past,” he has a “heart-warming character” and gets along well with the center’s staff and visitors.

The puppy is described as “responsive to praise, affection and treats” and ready to learn with plenty of guidance in his new home.

“Crypto is looking for a house where he can spend his days adventuring and his evenings cozy on the couch.

“He has a heart-warming character and gets along effortlessly with all the staff and visitors to the centre,” she said.

The charity said Crypto would “fit in perfectly” with a family with older children who are comfortable around dogs, as he is a larger dog who “still thinks he’s a puppy”.

“This beautiful boy loves to explore and zoom around the outdoors, so he needs a secure garden with a high fence where he can play freely with his toys and run around to his heart’s content.

“He would thrive in a home where he can walk or run daily in safe areas, along with mental enrichment to keep him stimulated indoors.

“Crypto can be quite selective when it comes to his canine companions, often forming close bonds with carefully chosen friends, particularly preferring female dogs.

“Patient introductions and ongoing training in his new home will allow him to continue developing positive relationships with compatible companions,” Ms Raitt said.
