TTG – Message Board – Conscious Questions launched on Earth Day

The Conscious Travel Foundation, Weeva and BOUTECO have launched Conscious Questions, a tool for tourism companies.

As the world celebrates Earth Day, Conscious Travel Foundation, Weeva and BOUTECO are excited to launch Conscious Questions, a resource for tourism businesses.

Acting as an easy-to-follow, essential resource for travel industry professionals, this open source list of questions provides all the questions we should ask and be prepared to answer – encouraging everyone to be curious, stay curious and to continue to ask questions about sustainability.

The guide asks a series of thought-provoking questions and the rationale behind them to support travel agents and representatives in seeking a deeper understanding of holistic sustainability, which can in turn lead to more responsible travel. The guide is divided into seven impact categories: Environment, Economy, Conservation, Culture and Heritage, Community, Accessibility and Inclusion, Measurement and Data.

“We have chosen these key areas with measurable impact, in line with The Conscious Travel Foundation’s holistic approach to positive impact tourism,” says Maudie Tomlinson.

Accommodation providers will find these insights into the types of questions the sector will increasingly ask, especially useful in light of the new guidelines and governance coming into play, such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting (CSRD) Directive. Encouraging hoteliers to invest time, energy and resources in a transparent report on their true environmental and social impact will better serve customers, businesses and climate solutions.

‘Align your value chain with your values’

Hotel owners, general managers and marketing teams are encouraged to more consciously measure what they are doing well and identify where operational improvements can be made. By interrogating their supply chains, making small changes and capturing data more accurately, they can have the answers, backed by data and science, ready when the tough sustainability questions are asked.

The guide can be downloaded for free from The Conscious Travel Foundation website.
