Konda Vishweshwar Reddy’s family assets are worth Rs 4,568 crore

HYDERABAD: BJP candidate from Chevella Konda Vishweshwar Reddy has emerged as one of the richest candidates, with assets worth Rs 4,568 crore.

According to the affidavit filed during his appointment, Vishweshwar Reddy’s assets are mainly movable, with significant interests in shares and companies. His wealth comes from his association with Apollo Hospital Enterprises Limited, PCR Investments, Citadel Research and other companies.

Vishweshwar Reddy’s personal assets are estimated at Rs 1,240 crore, while his wife, Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals, has assets worth Rs 3,208 crore. The couple’s dependent son K. Viraj Madhav Reddy has assets worth a total of Rs 108 crore. Together they own diamonds and gold worth Rs 11 crore, two villas in Aparna Elixir Puppalaguda and agricultural lands in Chevella, Rajendranagar and Chittoor. Interestingly enough, however, the family does not own a car.

The family’s real estate assets include land and residential buildings in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. Vishweshwar Reddy’s properties are valued at Rs 71.35 crore, while those of his wife are worth Rs 5.51 crore. The couple has declared debts totaling Rs 13.82 crore.

Besides his wealth, Vishweshwar Reddy is facing four criminal cases, including a fraud case in New Delhi, of which charges have been filed in three cases. Despite these legal problems, he has not been convicted in any case.

Vishweshwar Reddy comes from a prominent family, namely the grandson of Konda Venkata Ranga Reddy, former deputy chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, and son of Justice Konda Madhava Reddy, a former Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. The Chevalla constituency, where Vishweshwar Reddy is contesting, is in Ranga Reddy district, named after his grandfather.

In 2019, Vishweshwar Reddy lost the Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket to BRS’s Ranjith Reddy by a margin of 14,317 votes. Before joining the BJP, he was a member of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and later switched to the Congress, where he contested the 2019 state elections.
