Jamshedpur, April 22: In commemoration of World Earth Day, the Environment Club at Sacred Heart Convent School (SHCS) has orchestrated an insightful initiative aimed at promoting a deep understanding of environmental management among its students.

School teachers took the initiative to teach the students the importance of planting trees and curb the current scenario. Earth Day focuses on important issues such as global warming and the push for clean energy.

Accompanied by three dedicated teachers, a cohort of forty-seven students from SHCS embarked on an excursion to the picturesque Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary.

The excursion, facilitated by the Forest Department, provided an immersive experience in the rich biodiversity of the region.

The team visited the Dalma Museum and the Deer Park. Some students fearlessly touched and petted the animals.

An informative session led by the Forest Department shed light on critical environmental issues, with a special focus on forest fire prevention and management.

A Forest Department official informed them about the history of the reserve and its daily activities.

Furthermore, the excursion provided a platform to learn more about the diverse tribal communities inhabiting the Jharkhand region. The students had a great time interacting with animals.

The trip enabled the students to realize the relationship with the outside world and the wider world and to develop an appreciation for their environment.

This hands-on experience proved to be an excellent way to facilitate learning.

The educational field trip embraced the Earth Day 2024 theme, “Planet vs Plastics,” and underscored the urgent need for collective action to mitigate the environmental impacts of plastic pollution.

SHC School Director, Sister Rashmita AC commented: “The EARTH BUDDIES will now become the messengers to the wider world and spread awareness among others to preserve and protect the environment. It is up to us to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we have ever known.”
