This Earth Day, Avolta is taking stock of sustainable initiatives

Avolta celebrates Earth day (April 22) by taking stock of the sustainable initiatives it has taken in its operations around the world, in turn making thoughtful and meaningful commitments as individuals and as a team.

Below the Earth Day 2024 theme Planet versus plastics the retailer highlights the following steps:

  • By 2023, it replaced ~70% of F&B packaging used with non-plastic alternatives
  • The number of retail countries using only non-plastic, biodegradable and recycled alternative bags has increased from 26 to 38
  • It is working with its beverage partners in a targeted effort to encourage the use of recycled plastic bottles and reduce the use of new plastic bottles
  • In partnership with Biolo, it is implementing plant-based and compostable straws at numerous locations in the US
  • 70% of single-use packaging in restaurants in key Food & Beverage countries is now sustainable

The company’s promise to the planet this week is to give back through its partnership with One tree plantedwith the aim of planting 5,000 trees in the Amazon rainforest to promote reforestation, in addition to the 50,000 trees – which absorb more than 2,000 tons of CO2 – that it has already planted so far.
