NDC and Mahama are not serious

The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, has said that recent desperate attempts by former President John Mahama and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to adjudicate government discontent over the Kpeledzzoo procession shootings see how not serious they are.

In a comment on social media, the MCE said it had received information that the former president had instructed his party communicators to blame the government for the recent shootings at the Eastern Naval Base.

“This must be the clearest proof that Mr. John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress are truly a non-serious group that should never be allowed to rule this country again,” the MCE wrote.

According to him, the move to use the sea shootings for propaganda smacks of desperation and betrays the fact that the NDC and Mr John Mahama have run out of propaganda ideas.

“It also shows that these people have a rather morbid and primitive sense of politics. Among civilized people, you don’t use death to win political points, no matter how desperate you are,” wrote Yohane Amarh Ashitey.

The article comes in the wake of accusations leveled by some in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the fatal shooting of two people by the Navy in Tema during a procession for the annual Kpeledzoo -festival.

The opposition, especially in Tema, is taking advantage of the incident by claiming that the shooting took place on the orders of the Jubilee House, while others claim that it is a lack of respect that the government has for the culture of the people of Tema.

However, in his response, the Tema MCE said such thinking can only come from persons whose minds are occupied with non-serious matters.

“We have information that Mr. John Mahama wants this issue to be deeply exploited for political capital and in the days to come, the propaganda rhetoric will change gear; what lame-duck behavior that is!”

Hon. Amarh Ashitey said such propaganda will not succeed as everyone knows that the shooting was a freak accident that took place due to the bad temperament of some naval officers.

“Furthermore, it is impossible for the government to allow this bloody incident to go unpunished and unpunished; we are going to do just that,” the MCE wrote.

He called out the NDC for allowing itself to be misled by Mr John Mahama and his desperate desire for power.

“Under normal circumstances, no one in the NPP would be condescending to the NDC but they have been misled by John Mahama and now it is so difficult to take them seriously,” the MCE wrote.

He urged the opposition party to “abandon John Mahama and return to the ideals of its founding so that it may be able to regain some of the respect it commanded in the past.”
