Lubbock business news includes HTeaO, Buddy Holly Hall, energy

Hello AJ readers!

Energy, HteaO, a full-time Texas Tech student/entrepreneur, and Buddy Holly Hall made industry headlines this week.

Buddy Holly Hall’s recent partnership with new food and beverage supplier SAVOR hinted at changes to come. I met with two SAVOR officials, who gave me more details about what those changes would be. Cashless concessions, new food, giving back to the community and a Chilton bar are just some of the highlights. Make sure you read the article for all the details.

In conjunction with the opening of the newest HTeaO at 5105 98th St., we are sharing an article about Natalie Snow, the chief of operations in Lubbock, who is also a full-time student at Texas Tech. The first-generation college student and Monterey High alumna started with the company at age 19 as an assistant manager. Now, two and a half years later, Snow has three locations, where she empowers women and takes on a full course load. .

“Sometimes I don’t give myself that recognition, that recognition for how hard it has been for me to get here, for all the things I’ve done to get here,” Snow said. “It’s just something that I really love. Putting a smile on people’s faces has always been something that I’ve been an advocate for for so long.”

In the energy sector, a major power station had recently opened in the area, as the pun intended. Repsol, a global multi-energy company in Spain, the United States, Chile, Italy and Portugal, completed the Frye Solar project in Swisher County on Thursday, April 11. Frye is the company’s largest facility with nearly one million panels.

And in case you missed it, last week’s column didn’t mention the Aqua Cabana controversy because the story took place after deadline. Officials in Lubbock and a water park in Tennessee responded after a non-existent water park in Lubbock went viral for criticizing officials. Aqua Cabana was also caught using photos from a Tennessee water park and had no connection or permission from the Tennessee park.

Outside of business news, I have a new best bite. I went to Stella’s for brunch this weekend because I needed French Toast. It’s my favorite breakfast item and it’s hard to find a good one. Stella’s exceeded my expectations with its Berry French Toast Casserole, which had all the sweet, berry, and cinnamon notes I was craving. Our waiter was so nice too. I’m looking forward to trying the next new flavor from the weekly menu.

Next week, stay tuned for details on an interesting Elvis Presley-themed hair salon, a metal worker and jewelry maker from Ransom Canyon, and all the other news coming throughout the week.

As always, thanks for reading and supporting the AJ.
