Disease haunted the entire generation, leaving 40 million dead

When Inouye attempted to neutralize a German defensive position near San Terenzo, Italy, he was shot in the stomach.

He ignored the wound and took out two machine gun nests.

As he was about to throw a grenade as he crawled to a third, his left arm was blown off by a German rifle grenade.

He looked down and saw his own grenade “clenched in a fist that suddenly wasn’t mine anymore.”

He grabbed the grenade with his only remaining arm and used it to take out the last German bunker, being shot in the leg.

As his platoon gathered around his unconscious body, he woke up and ordered them back to their positions.
