Dumper hits family of three on bicycle; Man dies, woman and child are injured

Bhopal (Madhya Pardesh): A dumper speeding across the Arif Nagar Bridge at high speed late on Sunday evening rammed a bicycle, killing the rider and injuring his wife and 2.5-year-old son, police said. The man died at the scene, police said. According to Nishatpura police, the incident took place on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday on the Arif Nagar bridge.

The deceased has been identified as Faizan Khan (24), a painter by profession. Late on Sunday evening, Faizan, along with his wife Saman and son, were returning from dinner with his in-laws when the accident occurred. Around 12.15 pm, a dumper mowed them down from behind on the Arif Nagar Bridge.

Khan, who suffered serious injuries, died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. Faizan’s wife and their son were rushed to the hospital. Bystanders tried to stop the dumper, but the driver managed to flee and abandoned the vehicle. Some passers-by destroyed the dumper in a fit of anger. The police have drawn up a report against the unknown driver.

Bhopal: Scheduled criminal, female relatives manipulate police officers

Bhopal (Madhya Pardesh): A tense drama unfolded late Sunday evening near Hamidia Hospital when police arrested a listed criminal from a well-known tea shop there, officials said. The suspect had been in hiding for some time and was arrested after a tip. The female relatives of the suspect who were present there assaulted the crime branch officials to release him, officials said.

Additional DCP (Crime) Shailendra Singh Chouhan told Free Press that the arrested suspects were identified as Khaiber Ali Irani (24), a scheduled criminal against whom cases of assault, theft and fraud have been registered in the state. The crime branch had received a tip-off that he had been spotted at a tea shop near Hamidia Hospital.

A team was constituted, which rushed to the spot and nabbed him. A bounty of Rs 5,000 was announced on him. Additional DCP Chouhan added that once the crime branch personnel detained Irani, nearly five women, who were his relatives, assaulted the personnel to free him from their clutches. They also caused a commotion on the road, which lasted almost half an hour. The movement of the vehicle was disrupted.
