Is this the most luxurious family car in the world? 2025 Zeekr 009 Grand has been unveiled in China as a rival to the Lexus LM500h

The new Chinese brand Zeekr opts for luxury with its new electric 009 Grand.

The regular 009 will be released in Australia at the end of this year, but Zeekr has yet to confirm whether the pimped version of the people mover will arrive Down Under.

The super-luxury 009 Grand has a bold look with a Rolls-Royce Cullinan-style front fascia, 20-inch alloy wheels with a laser-etched pattern and a massive boxy silhouette.

The interior matches the exterior with some wild features that have to be seen to be believed.

Topping the list is a 31-speaker Yamaha stereo with hand-polished Himalayan marble inlaid in the cockpit.

This is complemented by a massive 43-inch rear LED smart screen and a four-seat layout with two rear captain’s chairs that recline almost flat and are wrapped in supple leather upholstery.

A small refrigerator in the back can heat and cool and has an ultraviolet sterilization function, which Zeekr says makes it ideal for a range of items from champagne to cigars and even baby food.

Rear seat passengers are treated to a monstrous 43-inch smart screen.

The 009 Grand comes with ‘light curtain glass’ with 10 brightness levels to protect passengers from the outside world. At its darkest, only 0.5 percent of the light enters the cabin, according to Zeekr.

Equally astounding is the vehicle’s price in China, which translates to more than $170,000 in Australian dollars. It could break the $200,000 mark if it ever hits local showrooms.

Zeekr also promises class-leading performance, with the 009 Grand able to complete the 0-100 km/h benchmark in 3.9 seconds thanks to multiple electric motors delivering grip to all wheels.

It is built with an 800-volt electrical architecture, which allows for ultra-fast charging.

Zeekr claims it can add 500km of range in just 12 minutes. The car has a total driving range of 702 km, based on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC), which is much more generous than the widely used Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP).

The 009 Grand’s rear seat folds almost completely flat.

The 009 Grand appears to be a direct competitor to the Lexus LM500h which launched in Australia in early 2024 and is priced from $220,888 (excluding on-road costs).

The LM500h has a four-seat layout, with seats that recline almost flat in the rear and the 48-inch rear screen surpasses that of the 009 Grand.

Zeekr is preparing to launch in the Australian market this year and has confirmed it Car guide two new models will be released by the end of the year.

One is the standard version of the 009 and the other is the Zeekr
