Elvish Yadav snake venom case: Punjab High Court gives certainty to the animal rights activists who filed the case against the winner of Bigg Boss 17

Elves Yadav has been making headlines for his snake venom case since details of his rave party emerged last year. The Punjab & Haryana High Court has now directed the police to ensure the safety of the animal rights activists who filmed a popular video of YouTube star Elvish Yadav. The activists had filed a complaint against Yadav for allegedly using snake venom as drugs.
The court’s directive is that the activists must be provided with adequate security when they appear in jail Gurugram CourtYadav was recently arrested on charges of procuring and selling snake venom at rave parties. He was facing legal action under various laws including the Wildlife Protection Act, IPC for criminal conspiracy and negligent conduct in relation to poison endangering human safety.
Yadav was granted bail by the Gurugram court after the first arrest. An animal rights activist had initially filed a complaint in the Gurugram Court when the police failed to register an FIR based on the viral video of Yadav using snakes, which is prohibited under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
Justice Jasjit Singh Bedi stated that the Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon, should provide adequate security to the activists involved in the case when they have to attend the court in Gurgaon. The court also said that any threats or related issues should be heard in the competent court in Uttar Pradesh as the allegations mainly relate to threats made in that state.
Saurabh Gupta and his brother Gaurav Gupta approached the Supreme Court seeking police protection against the YouTuber and his associates. The petitioners, animal rights activists, recorded Yadav’s viral video and filed an FIR against him for using snake venom at rave parties.
