National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has claimed that the driver of a truck that caused an accident with a newly purchased train during a test run is a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). .

Speaking during the Monday, April 22, 2024 edition of Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia morning show, Nana B stressed that the accident was a clear case of sabotage orchestrated by the opposition to bring bad name to the government.

“So Kwame, don’t you want to talk about the new train that was tested and had an accident because an NDC person parked a car on the tracks?” he asked the host.

The host in response asked if Nana B had any evidence to back up his claim, insisting that the driver who has since been convicted for his action is an NDC member.

“I tell you he is NDC, we have people there too, he is a real NDC member with a party ticket in that constituency… If you look at the way the car was parked, it was very deliberate. Are you okay with the NDC doing that? Such a bad mentality that a new train has arrived and if the government were to receive praise, it would cause its destruction.

“The NDC is generally full of evil thoughts. You listen to how happy they sound on social media. Even former President John Dramani Mahama, who should condemn such behavior, said he would ask questions if he became president. He is not concerned about the person who caused the incident,” he said.

A court last week sentenced Abel Dzidotor, the man responsible for the accident involving the newly imported train on the Tema-Mpakadan railway line, to six months’ imprisonment with hard labour.

Dzidotor pleaded guilty to three of the four charges against him, including negligent driving, unauthorized stopping and causing unlawful damage.

The fourth charge, which involved no driver’s license being presented, was contested by Dzidotor, who claimed his driver’s license was in the damaged vehicle.

He has been instructed to submit the permit to the court by May 9, 2024 to avoid possible consequences.

The Ghana Police Service arrested Dzidotor for causing the accident that occurred on April 18 during a test run of a newly imported train from Poland.

Preliminary police investigation shows that Dzidotor left the Hyundai truck with license plate GS 9018 – 20 unattended on the railway line, which led to a collision with the train.

The accident reportedly happened when Abel Dzidotor went to deliver cement blocks, but the truck got stuck on the rail after returning.
