A 36-year-old patient on an involuntary psychiatric unit was turned away because of NDIS funding to support his discharge from hospital just before he killed himself, an inquest has heard.

The coronial inquest into the death of Peter Johnathon Rex Bolton in November 2022 at St John of God Hospital Midland was mandatory because he was a person in care.
