North Korean defector-author wins defamation suit over sex crime allegations

A prominent North Korean defector author has won a defamation lawsuit against another defector who accused him of sex crimes and a South Korean broadcaster that reported her story, court documents reviewed by NK news show.

The Supreme Court last month upheld a ruling that required defector Seung Sol-hyang and her husband, as well as the broadcaster MBC and his reporter, to jointly pay $29,000 (40 million won) plus interest to author Jang Jin-sung.
