Large-scale military exercises involving the German army begin in Lithuania

Large-scale training exercises of the German Bundeswehr, Grand Quadriga 2024, will begin in Lithuania on Tuesday.

As reported by LRT, more than 3,000 German soldiers and 200 units of military equipment, including Leopard tanks, Puma IFVs and Boxer APCs, are deployed to the Žukauskas training ground in Pabradė and the Vevyarskis training ground in Kazlų Rūda.

These exercises are aimed at the redeployment of two divisions from the Central European region to the East. Lithuanian army units, alongside German counterparts, will participate in training in planning and conducting operations, and provide support to the host country.

The training continues until the end of May.

On Monday, April 22, Lithuania started its national military exercises Thunder Strike, one of the largest in the country.

In addition, joint Lithuanian-Polish tactical exercises with an aviation element, “Brave Griffin 24/II”, began on Sunday.
