Meet LISSA: the Lenovo Intelligent Sustainability Solutions Advisor

LISSA, or the Lenovo Intelligent Sustainability Solutions Advisor, provides insight into the environmental impact of IT solutions throughout their life cycle.

Using generative AI technology, LISSA provides insight into the estimated carbon emissions associated with various sustainability solutions offered by Lenovo, including TruScale Device as a Service (DaaS), Asset Recovery, packaging efficiency, low-carbon shipping options, renewals the life cycle and certified renovation.

Additionally, LISSA is touted to help companies simulate multiple solution paths and identify emissions reduction opportunities to support their IT digital workplace decarbonization goals, Lenovo said.

According to a recent survey cited by the company, 87% of executives recognize AI’s potential in addressing climate issues, providing insights to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions and facilitating climate action.

Lenovo aims to help companies develop IT decarbonization pathways with sustainability outcomes by introducing LISSA.

Claudia Contreras, Executive Director of Global Sustainability Services at Lenovo, emphasized the importance of sustainability in today’s business landscape.

“At Lenovo, we want to emphasize that sustainability is a business imperative and top of mind for leaders across all industries,” Contreras said in a press release.

“LISSA is a new capability in our growing sustainability portfolio, providing customers with data and AI-powered recommendations to guide their IT purchasing decisions. By putting sustainability attributes first, we enable customers to unlock potential emissions reduction opportunities and deploy IT solutions that help drive sustainability goals.”

AI for net zero goals

Lenovo and several technology companies have committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with science-based targets validated through the Net-Zero Standard (Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)).

A net-zero goal is to balance the greenhouse gases it releases with the greenhouse gases it eliminates from the atmosphere. The goal involves minimizing and offsetting remaining emissions by supporting carbon removal or offset initiatives, which several companies have broadly adopted.

“There is no one path; every customer is on their unique sustainability journey and needs access to data to measure progress. Lenovo wants to help customers make real progress with data-driven sustainability insights. AI and data intelligence recommendations help when planning and optimizing IT investments with sustainability in mind,” Contreras said in a statement.

“Lenovo can help organizations of all sizes compare multiple IT solutions in real time, design an end-to-end IT solution that fits budget and compute usage, and help support sustainability goals.”
