Congress wanted to extend reservation on the basis of religion: Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday charged that Congress wanted to extend reservation on the basis of religion and extend the right given to Dalits, backward people and tribals to Muslims.

As soon as the Congress formed the government at the Center in 2004, one of the first tasks was to reduce the SC/ST reservation in Andhra Pradesh and give reservation to Muslims, he said while addressing an election rally in Tonk.

“Modi gives you an open-hearted assurance that there will be no end to reservation for Dalits and backward tribes, nor will division be allowed in the name of religion,” he said.

The Prime Minister claimed that he understands the Constitution. “Modi is committed to the Constitution. Modi is a person who worships Baba Saheb Ambedkar,” he said.

‘Deep controversy to take away wealth’

The Prime Minister also alleged that it is difficult to follow one’s faith under the Congress and again accused the Congress of hatching a deep conspiracy to take away people’s wealth and distribute it to “selected” people.

Referring to the comments on ‘wealth redistribution’ he made at a rally in Banswara in Rajasthan on April 21, the Prime Minister said this has angered the Congress and the INDIA bloc so much that they have started ‘misusing’ him everywhere .

“I have brought home to the country the truth that Congress is hatching a deep conspiracy to take your wealth and distribute it to the ‘selected’ people,” he said in Tonk.

“Two-three days ago, I exposed this vote bank policy of Congress as appeasement politics; this has made Congress and its INDI Alliance so angry that they have started abusing Modi everywhere,” he said, wondering “why Congress is afraid of the truth and hiding its policies”.

“It says in their manifesto that they will investigate the wealth. Their leader had said in a speech that the wealth would be x-rayed,” he said, adding, “When Modi revealed the secret, your hidden agenda came out and you are shaking.”

The Prime Minister also said that it is difficult to follow one’s faith under Congress rule. “Even listening to Hanuman Chalisa becomes a crime under Congress rule,” he said.
