PM Modi steps up attack on Congress, saying it wanted to ‘introduce quota on the basis of religion’

Jaipur, April 23 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday stepped up the offensive against the Congress, accusing it of “scheming and scheming” to disrupt the structure of the quota system by introducing religion-based reservations when it was in power.

Addressing a large public gathering in Tonk-Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan, Prime Minister Modi doubled down on his attack amid a series of allegations from the Congress.

“When the Congress and the INDI Alliance were in power, they wanted to make separate reservations for their special vote bank by breaking into the reservations of Dalits and backward classes. While the Constitution is completely against this,” Prime Minister Modi said.

Prime Minister Modi further said that the ‘conspiracies’ of Congress and INDIA alliance will not succeed as the incumbent government will not allow any amendment to Babasaheb’s Constitution.

“Amid these conspiracies of Congress, I give you an assurance from an open platform that reservation for Dalits, backward classes and tribes will not be abolished nor allowed to be divided in the name of religion. This is Modi’s guarantee,” the Prime Minister thundered at the meeting.

Reiterating his statement of ‘wealth redistribution to infiltrators’, he said Congress is in too much pain after being exposed and they are now abusing and cursing him from every platform.

“They have stated in their manifesto that they will inspect your property. The Mangal Sutra of our sisters and mothers will be examined. This leader publicly said that if your wealth is more than necessary, it will be divided. If you have two houses, they will take X-rays and say one house should be given to the government,” he said.

“Do you accept it? Can these people touch the Mangal Sutra of women? Is this ‘Hand’ so powerful? Rajasthan should not even have such a hand anymore,” Prime Minister said at the Tonk meeting.

He further accused the Congress of giving the reservation to Muslims in Andhra Pradesh in 2004.

“As soon as the Congress government came to power at the Center in 2004, the first task it undertook was to provide reservations to Muslims by reducing the SC/ST quota in Andhra Pradesh. This was a pilot project that Congress wanted to implement across the country. Between 2004 and 2010, the Congress tried to implement Muslim reservations in Andhra Pradesh four times. However, due to legal hurdles and the awareness of the Supreme Court, they could not realize his plans. In 2011, Congress tried to implement it again across the country. They took the rights given to SC/ST and OBC and gave them to others for vote bank politics. Congress made all these efforts knowing that it was all contrary to the fundamental spirit of the Constitution. They were also not concerned about the Constitution, nor about Baba Ambedkar…,” Prime Minister Modi told the public meeting.

“When we had the chance, we scrapped the reservation we brought and returned it to those who were entitled to it,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi further said that reading Hanuman Chalisa has become a crime under the Congress rule and also invoked a recent incident from Karnataka.

“A young man was beaten up in Karnataka for playing Hanuman Chalisa in his shop. When the Congress was in power in Rajasthan, the Ram Navami procession was banned,” PM Modi said.
