Research shows that 60% of parents are willing to take their children out of school to save on holiday costs

As many as 60% of parents are willing to take their children out of school during school hours to save on holiday prices, according to new research from an online travel agency Click & Go shows.

The agency said it has seen a significant 20% growth in the number of passengers booked for travel in May or June this year, compared to last year.

On average, families can save up to €1,200 on trips in May compared to July. Other reasons cited for traveling off-peak include milder weather, fewer crowds for families with young children, and children can expand their education by learning about new destinations, cultures and languages.

Portugal and Spain are the clear winners for the best family sun destinations in May and June. The Algarve, Lanzarote and Costa del Sol are the three best performing family sun destinations at Click&Go.
