A drug dealer was found by police under a pile of clothes during a raid on his home.

Rhys Jones, 21, from Garden City, near Pontlottyn, was arrested on September 2 last year, with officers discovering heroin with a street value of £35,000.

When Jones appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Wednesday, April 17, he was sentenced to four years and 10 months after admitting charges of burglary, taking a vehicle without consent, two counts of fraud and possession of Class A drugs with the intention of delivering it.

After his first arrest in September, Jones was released on bail and arrested again in November. He was released again on police bail and in January this year he broke into a house and stole a bank card, a car and money.

Jones was caught on CCTV using the bank card twice at a local store and was also seen driving the stolen car. The car has now been recovered.

The officer in the case, coincidentally also named Rhys Jones, said: “He is a key member of a serious organized crime group and was found in possession of large quantities of heroin.

“We know that drug supply is often linked to various types of criminal behavior and Jones went on to commit further offenses – demonstrating his complete disregard for the criminal justice system and the community he is part of.”

During the trial it was stated that the suspect was dependent on drugs and had an upbringing in which he used drugs.

Jones will serve half of his sentence in prison and the remainder on license.
