The quartet – Stella Osei (BA Fashion Design), Zsofia Toro (BA Fashion Design), Pernilla Weinholz (BA Fashion Design) and Cody O’Connor (BA Fashion Communication) – will also share a £16,000 grant to help them support in finalizing their graduation collections and projects.

In addition to the prize, H&M is also supporting a (yet unnamed) student with an internship within the design department at H&M’s headquarters in Stockholm.

The four winners, selected from more than 30 entries, were judged on their alignment with H&M’s own values and Central Saint Martins’ ongoing Inclusion & Diversity work and policies.

The award, which H&M also supported in 2021, aims to support emerging designers and journalists and encourage the next generation of fashion leaders to further engage with sustainability and accelerate the shift to circular fashion.

Ann-Sofie Johansson, creative advisor and panelist from H&M, said: “The chosen designers shared the same passion for both fashion and sustainability and that is exactly what is needed for the future. Creativity will lead the way to a sustainable fashion future and the selected students not only excelled in fashion, but also had clear ideas on how to make it sustainable and long-lasting.”
