The Regional Military Administration explained why Russia was affected

Kharkov residents were left without digital television after the Russian missile attack on the TV tower.

Digital television is still unavailable in parts of the Kharkiv region. This concerns the area covered by transmitters on the Kharkov television tower, which was hit by a Russian missile on the afternoon of April 22.

Ivan Sokol, director of the Civil Protection Department of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, talked about it on Radio Svoboda.

“Digital television in Kharkiv and surrounding areas within the range of the transmitter is currently unavailable. Experts are conducting analyzes and examining the damaged equipment to draw definitive conclusions about the losses caused by this attack. Specialists are working to determine the outcome of the shelling,” he said. Sokol said.

“He assumes that the restoration of the television tower will only be possible after the end of hostilities. However, after examining the damaged equipment, specialists will assess the possibility of rebuilding the television tower.

“Given the way the television tower (ed.) was built, its restoration is possible after the end of hostilities,” said the representative of the Regional Military Administration.

When asked whether this was an indiscriminate rocket hit or a targeted attack on the television tower, Sokol opined that it was an attempt to intimidate the city’s residents.

“In my personal opinion, it was an attempt to intimidate the population of the city of Kharkov and the surrounding areas. Imagine that in broad daylight at 4:40 p.m. the tower, the tallest structure in Kharkov, was hit by a rocket. Of course, this caused some concern among people,” Sokol said.
