Elvish Yadav Snake Venom Case: Punjab High Court asks police to ensure safety of animal rights activists

In a major development in the Noida snake venom case, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed police officials to enhance security of the animal rights activists who have filed complaints against YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav. As reported by E-Times, the court has asked police officials that the activists should be provided security when they appear before the Gurugram court.

Interestingly, this comes a month after Yadav was also accused of issuing death threats to the welfare officer of the People’s For Animal (PFA) in Ghaziabad. The officer, identified as Sourabh Gupta, had filed a complaint in Nandgram area of Ghaziabad and accused Elvish of threatening him and his brother on social media. He alleged that ever since his team busted the Sname Venom Case gang in Noida, they have been receiving repeated threats. Reportedly, in his complaint, Gupta also claimed that he was afraid for his life and argued that if anything happened to him or his brother, Elvish and his fans should be responsible.

Elvish Yadav has been making headlines for quite some time now in connection with the Noida snake venom case. Late last year, an FIR was filed against Elvish after his name came up during a rave party where snakes and poison were reportedly found. Later, politician and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi accused the YouTuber of supplying snake venom to rave parties in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. A case was filed under the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and for criminal conspiracy under Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code.

On March 17 this year, Elvish Yadav was arrested and remanded in police custody. Later, NDTV reported that the YouTuber ‘admitted to arranging snakes and snake venom’ at rave parties. An insider told the news portal that Yadav also “admitted to meeting the suspect at various rave parties and interacting with them.” He was granted bail on March 22.
