KOCHI: The BJP Ernakulam district committee on Tuesday filed a police complaint against Congress leader and UDF Wayanad Lok Sabha candidate Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he made a malicious statement misquoting the Prime Minister to create disharmony in the society.

In the complaint filed at Ernakulam Central Police Station, Sinu G Nath, district president of the BJP Legal Cell, said Rahul Gandhi made a public speech in Kottayam and accused the Prime Minister of campaigning for One Nation, One Language and One Religion.

Quoting from Rahul’s speech, he said, “When a daughter graduates from a college, her parents congratulate her in Malayalam. I get surprised when I hear the Prime Minister giving speeches saying One nation, one language and one religion. How can you tell? people of Tamil Nadu not to speak Tamil, people of Kerala not to speak Malayalam? Every Indian language is as important as any other language. BJP does this with language, place, caste and religion. Whenever they get the chance, they divide the country.”

Sinu said the video is available on YouTube.

“The statement was made to create disharmony within Indian society on the basis of language and religion. The Prime Minister has never made any such statement. The intention of the suspect is to create enmity between different groups of people on the basis of place of birth. , place of residence and language.

The statement is likely to cause disharmony and enmity among people speaking the national language. The statement was deliberately made with ulterior motives,” he said.
