Reckless driver arrested after hit-and-run incident in Sebastian – Sebastian Daily

On Monday evening, a 26-year-old Arizona man was arrested after reports of reckless driving through residential areas in Sebastian, Florida.

At approximately 6:37 p.m., Sebastian Police received a call reporting a gold Ford F-150 pickup driving recklessly along the 600 block of Caravan Terrace. Witnesses described the car leaving skid marks on the roadway.

While police were en route, they were stopped at the intersection of Laconia Street and Periwinkle Drive by a witness, who revealed that the same truck had struck a stop sign as it was noticeably damaged and on the ground. Witnesses told police that the driver was a man, approximately 30 years old, with brown hair.

Moments later, another officer spotted the suspect vehicle driving along Barber Street, continuing to drive dangerously, according to police. A traffic stop was initiated at the intersection of Barber Street and Rolling Hill Drive and the driver was arrested without further incident. The truck showed front-end damage consistent with the reported collision.

The driver, identified as Daniel Patrick Taylor, was found to be showing signs of impairment after interacting with police. Police said Taylor’s eyes were glassy, ​​his speech slurred and he smelled of an alcoholic beverage when he spoke.

Further investigation revealed the extent of the damage caused by Taylor’s reckless actions. According to officers on the scene, the stop sign incurred approximately $250 in damages. Taylor’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.159, nearly twice the legal limit, according to police.

Taylor was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident and driving under the influence. He was taken to the Indian River County Jail, where his bond was set at $1,500.
