$172 million approved for environmental projects throughout South Dakota

The Board of Water and Natural Resources has approved $172 million for wastewater, stormwater, solid waste and drinking water safety programs.

Of this, $20 million consists of subsidies. More than $10 million of the remaining low-interest loan funds are subject to in-principle forgiveness from the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Nearly 40 different communities across the state will receive some of the money. Those communities include Aberdeen, Alcester, Aurora, Clear Lake, Colton, Dakota Mainstem Regional Water System, Elkton, Faith, Gary, Green Valley Sanitary District, Hudson, Iroquois, Kadoka, Kingbrook Rural Water System, Lake Preston, Lincoln County Rural Water System , Mobridge, Niche Sanitary District, North Brookings Sanitary & Water District, Parker, Parkston, Pierre, Platte, Rapid City, Seneca, Sioux Falls, Sioux Rural Water System, South Eastern Council of Government, Southern Black Hills Water System, Spring Creek/ Cow Creek Sanitary District, Vermillion, Viborg, Norther South Dakota Water Investments, Western Dakota Regional Water System, Winner and Worthing.
