2024 Bagel Bites Series Kicks Off With Jake & Mikayla Concert

The event will take place from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, weather permitting, at Heritage Park, with Casey residents Jake and Mikayla Hoult on stage from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The duo is known for performing an energetic country music show, with elements of outlaw country, rockabilly, gospel, bluegrass and more.

Concessions are available at House of Brisket, Grandma T’s Pretzels, Aunt Kim’s Kettle Corn and Homewood Grill Ice Cream.

Additionally, Mattoon Special Events coordinator Mindy White said the second Bagel Bites series will once again utilize a festival district liquor license. She said concertgoers 21 and older can purchase adult beverages Friday evening at Hunan’s, La Luna, Little Mexico and Luigi’s restaurants downtown and then take those drinks to Heritage Park.

“Wristbands and festival district cups will be provided to all participating establishments,” White said.

Mattoon Made, a new arts and crafts component of Bagel Bites, will debut that evening. White said Bright & Wild Designs Face Painting and Destry Art & Design will be the first craft booths to participate in the concert series.

“The (Mattoon) tourism office will be on site with information about Bagelfest and will have some sweatshirts, hats and Bagelfest concert tickets for sale,” White said. “There will be Bimbo Bakeries USA there handing out treats and of course bagels.”

Additional food trucks and craft stalls will be part of the subsequent free Bagel Bites concerts, featuring Jane Doe on May 17 and Hawt Mess on June 7.

The Bagel Bites concerts offer a preview of the annual Mattoon Bagelfest in Peterson Park. Grimes Field will host a free contemporary Christian music concert there on July 18 by Blessing Offor and ticketed concerts by Eddie Montgomery with Confederate Railroad on July 19 and Resurrection: A Journey Tribute on July 20.
