Sister-in-law thought she would cause trouble by canceling their family’s phone plan. She ended up losing her number. » TwistedSifter

Sometimes family is more trouble than it’s worth.

That said, removing them from your life isn’t usually that easy either.

This woman is arguing with her sister-in-law for what seems like good reasons.

So a few years ago my husband reported his sister (B) for very illegal things she was doing to her children (not sure if I’m allowed to include details on this sub).

Since then, four of his five siblings have been extremely angry with him and have repeatedly gone out of their way to make our lives difficult.

Well, a few weeks ago we heard that Sister C had stolen a large sum of money from us.

My husband told her he was willing to let it go if she agreed to stop messing with us or he would sue her for the money back and push for criminal charges.

One of them thought she would leave it up to them by canceling their family’s cell phone subscription.

This has once again angered the family, so Sister A, who has had a telephone subscription for ten years, decided it was time for her and her husband to leave the subscription immediately.

We share our plan with about 12 people and her departure really messes with everyone else’s rates, so we’ve had to find people to fill their spots so we can keep our rate.

But this woman and her husband figured out how to pass it on to another sister instead.

While we were doing our best to figure everything out, we spoke to several representatives who said that if we port their numbers it will close the line.

This would result in a rate increase for everyone, so we need to transfer the new people’s numbers to theirs, which will put their numbers in the public database.

So yesterday was the day we transferred a new number to Sister A’s number.

When they realized she had no service at that number, they panicked, called the phone company on the line and tried to port the number.

Except they’re not authorized users of the account, so they can’t do anything without my husband’s permission.

Now they endure the chaos.

Her husband called my husband to try to get access to the number and begged us to let him keep it because their two-factor authentication was having issues and all.

My husband explained that if we release the number, the rates will go up for everyone.

My brother-in-law had the nerve to say, “Well, that’s not my problem!”

Well, it’s not everyone’s problem that she doesn’t like us.

Either way, now they have to go through the process of changing their phone number everywhere it is registered.

I can only imagine the disaster they are cleaning up now.

Seriously, I can’t believe people live like this.

Buy your own cell phone plan and move on.
