Prime Minister attacks Muslims over quotas

JAIPUR: Unfazed by the storm created by his speech against the Muslim community to attack the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday alleged that the Congress was trying to extend reservation on the basis of religion and give it to Muslims, and again accused the party of hatching a “deep conspiracy” to take people’s wealth and distribute it to a “select” group.

While many said the BJP allegedly misquoted then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to claim that he had said that Muslims have the first right to the country’s resources, Modi repeated the charge at an election rally in Tonk in Rajasthan.

“This was no coincidence. This is not a single statement. The ideology of the Congress has always been towards appeasement and vote bank politics.

“As soon as the Congress formed the government at the Center in 2004, one of the first things it did was to reduce the SC/ST reservation in Andhra Pradesh and give it to Muslims. This was a pilot project that Congress wanted to try out across the country,” he charged.

“Between 2004 and 2010, the Congress tried to implement Muslim reservation in Andhra Pradesh four times, but due to legal hurdles and the Supreme Court’s awareness, it could not achieve its intention,” he alleged. “In 2011, Congress tried to implement it nationwide. They were playing the game of taking away the rights granted to the SC, ST and OBC and giving them to others for vote bank politics,” he said, challenging the Congress to openly “declare” that if it comes to power comes, would offer the reservation. to Muslims outside the quota for Dalits and tribal communities.

When the BJP government in Karnataka got a chance, it abolished the Muslim quota imposed by the Congress government on the basis of reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, he added.

Referring to his speech on Sunday that sparked the controversy, Modi said the Congress and the opposition INDIA bloc were irritated after he “exposed” their vote bank and appeasement politics. “I have brought home to the country the truth that Congress is hatching a deep conspiracy to take your wealth and distribute it to select people,” he said.
