Vince McMahon Files Motion for “Complete Falsehoods” in Janel Grant Lawsuit; Grant’s lawyer responds

Vince McMahon has filed a new motion in response to Janel Grant’s lawsuit against him, and Grant’s attorney has responded.

On January 25, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon that included horrific allegations of grooming, abuse and sex trafficking. The lawsuit seeks to void a previous non-disclosure agreement and seeks monetary damages in an unspecified amount. This is the latest accusation about Vince McMahon that started in 2022 when it was reported that the WWE chairman paid $12 million in hush money to four women.

On January 26, Vince McMahon resigned from all duties at TKO and WWE while continuing to deny the allegations against him.

Grant’s lawsuit included a demand for a jury trial, and on April 23, Vince McMahon filed a motion to compel arbitration, arguing that the NDA signed by Grant contained a clause requiring that any future disputes between the two parties be resolved through arbitration had to be settled instead of a court.

In Grant’s original lawsuit, she claimed Vince McMahon groomed her as she dealt with grief after losing both of her parents. In the new motion, McMahon claims Grant could not have suffered overwhelming grief as her parents died more than two years before the start of their relationship. The motion also questions her claim that she is her father’s primary caregiver, as he lived in a retirement home before his death in April 2017.

Further, the motion claims that any alleged sexual abuse was a “complete lie” and points out that Grant was her fiancé alive at the time her affair with McMahon began. According to the motion, the heinous acts described in Grant’s lawsuit could not have been carried out when she returned to her fiancé after meeting with McMahon.

The motion states that because Grant violated the terms of her non-disclosure agreement and discussed her relationship with Vince McMahon, McMahon decided to no longer pay her as outlined in the terms in the agreement.

McMahon accuses Grant of seeking publicity with her lawsuit and denies all allegations against him. Part of the motion reads:

However, for the avoidance of doubt, Defendant vehemently and categorically denies all allegations of misconduct in the Complaint, including Plaintiff’s outrageous claims that Defendant forced Plaintiff to engage in unwanted sexual acts, sexually abused and/or assaulted her, trafficked her, and defecated on her . These are false statements intended for publicity.

How did Janel Grant’s attorney respond to Vince McMahon’s motion?

In a statement to POST Wrestling, Grant’s attorney Ann Callis provided the following response to claims about Grant’s sadness at the time she met McMahon:

Vince McMahon has never known a storyline that he doesn’t twist to fit his own shameful narrative. Her father was in a hospice during his final days, where Janel continued to care for him around the clock. Before his death, she cared for her blind, wheelchair-bound mother. Using the grief of someone who lost both her parents is a whole new level of disgusting.

When it comes to allegations that Grant was involved in a relationship with her fiancé at the time she started dating McMahon, Callis released the following statement:

She wasn’t dating at the time. Her ex-boyfriend allowed her to stay in the apartment while she rebuilt her life and resumed caring for her parents. She had no job and no other financial support to lean on.
