The Design Academy education program announces third edition

The third edition of The Design Academy education program will take place from May 2024 to February 2025.

The initiative is aimed at young fashion designers who are willing to change the industry and immerse themselves in an immersive learning experience. The next edition will focus on the theme “Adaptation” with the aim of developing creative and fashionable solutions for the disability community.

The project will be jointly organized by global e-commerce platform Zalando and Vorn-The Berlin Fashion Hub, a physical and digital hub in Berlin commissioned by the German Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Business with the aim of bringing stakeholders together across the value chain of the fashion and textile industry to promote sustainable development in the fashion industry.

The educational program consists of sixteen weeks of remote and in-person training, split into two phases. During the first eight weeks, 100 selected talents will delve into themes such as sustainability, branding and business modeling with an emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility.

In the second phase, the ten leading designers will receive a scholarship for an eight-week design sprint, during which they will be mentored by industry experts in adaptive fashion design, sustainable design systems and digital technologies with an emphasis on 3D design and production . .

The journey culminates in Berlin Fashion Week 2025, where the finalists will have the opportunity to present their creations in a showcase.

Participants admitted include freelance designers and designers from emerging and established brands with at least one year of experience in the market and at least two collections. The brands they worked for must be based in Europe, and accessory brands are excluded from participation.

Applications can be submitted from April 23 to May 13, 2024 via the Vorn website.
