The Foodservice Australia expo is almost here

The annual Foodservice Australia show is now just weeks away and organizers say it will be the biggest and best yet.

The exhibition takes place from May 19 to 21 at the ICC Sydney. There will be more than 350 exhibitors and special events including Chef of the Year, National Restaurant Conference, Aged Care Catering Summit, Café School and Sweet Spot Theater.

Event director Tim Collett says it is a crucial event for the food and hospitality industry. He says there has never been a more important time for bars, cafes, caterers and restaurants to keep up to date with the latest trends in food, drink and equipment.

“We know that consumers are cutting back on their discretionary spending, but the good operators are still doing well. People still eat out, but tastes are changing. This event will show you how to improve your menu and your bottom line at the same time. If you are active in the food industry, that is where you need to be,” says Collett.

In addition to the exhibitors, there will be a series of free workshops on the show floor, the final of the Chef of the Year competition and two major conferences. Speakers and presenters include Neil Perry, George Calombaris, Kirsten Tibbles, Luke Mangan, Nelly Robinson, Con Dedes and many more.

Admission to the show is free, but for trade purposes only. You must be over 16 years old and work in a food or catering business. That means you can have real business conversations. It is a unique opportunity to get in touch with your regular suppliers and find new ones.

The conferences require additional payment but represent excellent value. All details, including speakers and topics, can be found on the website.

Collett points out that the fair is also an important time for suppliers to generate new customers. After a strong backlash from Covid, many are noticing sales slowing. The show is their chance to see regulars and thousands of new customers.

“It is difficult to reach the busy cafes and restaurants. People don’t answer phones and you can’t knock on every door. Many sales teams have been cut back. The show is the only time everyone gets together under one roof and talks about business. If you are a supplier and have not booked a stand, I encourage you to contact us this week,” said Collett.
