Heavy police presence in Cary neighborhood during mental health crisis

Police and first responders respond to a mental health crisis in a Cary neighborhood Tuesday evening.

According to the Cary Police Department, officers said a person was suffering from a mental health crisis at a home on Overcup Oak Lane.

Authorities said the person is in urgent need of treatment, and police are working to get him out of the home so he can receive proper care.

According to police, there is no danger to the community because the person has locked himself in his home.

Police are asking people to avoid the area while the situation continues.
