Man believed to have drowned in Long Beach – Press Telegram

LONG BEACH – A man is believed to have drowned Saturday at a place known as Rosie’s Dog Beach in Long Beach.

Long Beach police officers responded Saturday around 4:20 p.m. to the dog beach in the 4300 block of East Ocean Boulevard, where a drowning was reported, Lt. Dominick Scaccia said.

“Upon arrival, officers learned of an adult male being pulled from the water by a concerned citizen,” Scaccoa said. “While at the scene, Long Beach Fire Department lifeguards and responding personnel were unable to revive the man and determined he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

An investigation is underway, he said.

The medical examiner’s office took the man’s body to conduct a positive examination and determine the cause of death. His name will be withheld pending family notification.
