Manaskhand Corridor Yatra to show around ancient temples of Kumaon region; Dates, itinerary and more

The Manaskhand Corridor Yatra in Uttarakhand is a spiritual journey that takes pilgrims to important religious sites in the state. ‘Manaskhand Corridor Yatra’ to promote the historic temples of Kumaon region will start next week, organized by the Uttarakhand Tourism Department and Indian Railways.

A seven-day, six-night holiday package is available for the Manaskhand Corridor Yatra, which visits the temples in Manaskhand. Authorities on Saturday announced that the ‘Manaskhand Corridor Yatra’, a campaign to promote the historic temples of the Kumaon region, will begin next week in collaboration with the Indian Railways and the Uttarakhand tourism department. For the yatra, a special train would leave Pune on April 22 and go to Tanakpur in Pithoragarh district.

As part of the tour package, the devotees will visit temples and other places of worship in Tanakpur, Champawat, Pithoragarh and Almora. They also receive an explanation about the mythological meaning of these temples. The pilgrimage route includes stops at the temples of–

• Baleswar, Maneswar and Mayawati in Champawat
• Jageswar and Golu devta in Chitai
• Hat Kalika
• Patal Bhubaneswar in Pithoragarh
• Nanda Devi, Kasar Devi, Katarmal in Almora
• Nanakmatta Sahib Gurudwara in Udham Singh Nagar
• Naina Devi Temple in Nainital

How to travel?

The pilgrims will have to disembark from the train at Khatima, about a kilometer from Tanakpur, and be driven to the temples by road. A train will leave Pune on April 22 and reach Khatima on April 24. He further said that a second train of pilgrims will leave Pune on April 24 and arrive in Khatima on April 26. Since Khatima has more hotels and other amenities than Tanakpur, it has been selected as the last stop.

This yatra has immense significance as a tribute to the various manifestations of divinity including Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Pilgrims undertake this journey with great devotion, seeking spiritual purification and blessings. The Kumaon region of Uttarakhand is indeed rich in cultural and religious heritage, with numerous temples dedicated to various deities.
