Napo equips Sewaa Nyarko SHS laboratories with furniture and a multifunctional assembly hall on the horizon

Dr. Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Matthew Opoku Prempeh has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting education in his constituency by donating laboratory furniture to Serwaa Nyarko Senior High School in Dichemso in Kumasi.

It is expected that the 25 benches and over 100 stools will significantly enhance the school’s efforts in providing a conducive learning environment for students pursuing science-related subjects.

During a short ceremony on Friday (April 20), Dr. Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo, expresses optimism that this modest contribution will play a crucial role in consolidating the school’s educational initiatives. He pledged to address existing challenges facing the school, particularly in areas such as congestion and infrastructure.

“I have made many donations to this school… The biggest plan I had for Serwaa Nyarko was to expand the school across the street into the almost disused buildings. And I know that since I left the Ministry of Education, this project seems abandoned, but I can assure you that this project will happen,” the MP said.

‘I know I have to do something important for this school and I am considering donating a multi-purpose assembly hall to Serwaa Nyarko. And I mean it because the school is named after my great-grandmother and I hope to make this school a model girls’ school,” he added.

He also advised the students to study hard, pursue their dreams and be responsible citizens in the future.

Serwaa Nyarko SHS and his staff expressed their sincere gratitude to Dr. Opoku Prempeh for his continued support and dedication to education in Manhyia South. The donation of laboratory furniture is seen as a tangible step towards empowering students and teachers to excel in the field of science.

Mr Owusu Ansah Derchie, Head of Science Department, said his team will ensure that the donated materials will serve their purpose.

“If you enter our science lab, you will see that we use benches that are not intended for teaching and learning. These standardized benches and stools will be put into use. Maintenance culture is a problem in this country but here we will appoint a team to check the items so that whoever is causing damage will be dealt with,” he stated.
