Kamloops council considers development permit to build 48-unit multi-family housing at The Dunes – Kamloops News

A new multi-family project with almost 50 homes is being proposed near The Dunes Golf Course in Westsyde.

Kamloops city council will vote Tuesday on whether to issue a development permit for the planned development, which is located at 652 Dunes Dr.

In a report prepared for council, staff said the property is located on the southeast corner of a larger parcel that is home to The Dunes clubhouse at Kamloops Golf Course. The intention is for the house to be divided after construction.

“The applicant has proposed a 48-unit, four-story multifamily project with 56 parking spaces,” the report said.

“The area being developed is a vacant, sloping gravel area adjacent to the existing parking lot and cul-de-sac of Dunes Drive.”

To the west of the proposed development is an existing multifamily project with 39 units.

Plans for the development include eight studio units, 36 one-bedroom units and four two-bedroom units.

Staff said the proposal meets zoning requirements and other guidelines, and will provide an opportunity for infill development in Westsyde – and it is recommended that the council approve the issuance of the development permit.
