Cybercrime gang busted in Guwahati, four arrested

Guwahati, Apr 21: A joint team of East District and Crime Branch, Guwahati, led by ACP Basistha, conducted a raid in Guwahati following which a gang of cyber criminals was arrested on Saturday.

According to information received, the gang was operating a rented room in Bhetapara area of ​​Guwahati.

After the raid, four people were arrested in connection with the case.

During on-the-spot interrogations, officials learned that criminals were involved in collecting people’s bank account details by trapping them, promising a handsome profit against the use of the bank accounts, and later using these bank accounts to transfer the generated money through the committing financial cyber fraud without the knowledge of the account holders.

After the raid, the police team seized around twelve mobile phones, a laptop and several bank cards from the members of the gang.

Furthermore, various bank account numbers and data can also be found on the members’ mobile phones.

The arrested persons have been identified as Dipak Singh, Rupam Goswami, Firoz Khan from West Bengal and Shlok Kumar from Bihar.

Further investigation is ongoing in connection with the case.
