President of the Supreme Judicial Council Faiq Zidan on Sunday emphasized that international cooperation between judicial authorities is an urgent need in the face of cross-border challenges, while noting that international agreements and joint initiatives have shown that joint action leads to more effective and fair Results.

Zidan, speaking during his participation with a judicial delegation at the Permanent International Commercial Courts Forum organized by Qatar University, in the presence of the Chairman of the Judicial Council in Qatar Mohammed Al Mohannadi, the Minister of Justice in Qatar Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi and a number of heads of judiciary in the forum’s member states and a distinguished group of judges and legal experts from around the world, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said that “this forum is an important role in improving cooperation between commercial courts around the world, sharing best practices in commercial disputes.”

“Under globalization, crimes and organized crime have become transnational, which requires close cooperation between the judicial authorities of different countries to combat these phenomena,” Zidan added.

Zidan added that “the international cooperation in the legal field reflects our common commitment to the rule of law and efficient justice, and enhances our ability to face global legal challenges in a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding, by pointing out a number of important points affecting cooperation between judicial authorities, namely: the importance of international cooperation in the fight against transnational crimes such as terrorism, money laundering and trafficking in human beings – the need to exchange information and experiences between judicial authorities in different countries in order to to improve justice and the efficiency of judicial systems -the importance of developing effective mechanisms for extradition and enforcement of judicial sentences, providing mutual legal assistance. Formulate recommendations for the conference on the best ways to strengthen international cooperation between judicial authorities.
