55,400 participation in ‘Our Jordan is Paradise’ program | Company

Ammon news – The Operational Director of the “Our Jordan is Paradise” initiative at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Rifai, highlighted the remarkable achievements of the program this year, with participation reaching a record high of 55,400 persons since the beginning of the year.

Rifai stated in an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that this year’s participation has more than doubled compared to the same period last year, when there were 20,500 participants.

He noted that 1,400 tourist transport buses, accompanied by an equal number of tourist guides, facilitated travel to various tourist destinations across the Kingdom.

The primary objective of the program is to promote domestic tourism in Jordan, thereby mitigating the losses suffered by the tourism sector due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to involve tourist agencies in organizing trips, transport and guide services, and to collaborate with restaurants and campsites.

Rifai highlighted the resilience of the program amid the pandemic, which maintains tourism activities and preserves jobs in the sector, as tourism was one of the first sectors to quickly resume operations.

Several adjustments have been made to the program’s activities in line with the evolving dynamics of domestic tourism. The revised strategy aims to empower local communities, strengthen the tourism sector and boost domestic tourism, given the prevailing regional conditions.

Plans include the addition of new tourist destinations and working with the Ministry of Education to integrate school trips with educational standards, linking visits to academic curricula.

In addition, efforts are made to introduce visitors to various cultural and archaeological sites, customs and traditions in Jordan’s governorates.
The program offers one-day tours for JD10 per person, including meals and drinks, with children under the age of four traveling for free.

Furthermore, the initiative aims to strengthen local communities by offering training and promoting cultural exchange. It integrates several experiments that highlight the culture, customs and traditions of each governorate, such as the Karak Governorate initiative that focuses on traditional food preparation experiences.

In Madaba, plans are in the works to establish a library that will serve as a hub for dialogue and cultural exchange, targeting local youth as well as visitors.

In Ma’an Governorate, efforts are focused on transforming the “Palace of the Founding King” into a comprehensive national museum chronicling major historical events from the Great Arab Revolt to the establishment of the Jordanian state.

A dedicated telephone line (064603366) has been set up to receive feedback and suggestions, including proposals for new tourist destinations under the programme. Petra
