The Causeway Coast & Glens Council tourism event highlights marketing opportunities for businesses

Representatives of the tourism industry gathered in Cloonavin to learn more about how businesses are positioned in this sector Causeway Coast and Glens can benefit from upcoming marketing and media opportunities.

The industry event, organized by the Council’s Destination Team, welcomed colleagues from both Tourism NI and Tourism Ireland to jointly present on domestic and international marketing opportunities. Attendees were given an overview of planned overseas events and an island-wide sustainability programme, which will be launched later this year.

Over the coming year the Council will work closely with Tourism NI and Tourism Ireland on a range of collaborative projects, with the aim of promoting both Causeway Coast and Glens and Northern Ireland as a whole.

Campaigns, trade shows and consumer events will help the Causeway Coast and Glens is a ‘go-to’ destination all year round, with a fantastic range of accommodation, activities, events and tailor-made experiences.

Local businesses attending the event were given practical tips on how to work with tourism organizations to make the most of their platforms and opportunities, regardless of what stage their business is at.

mayor of Causeway Recognizing the key role that those working in the local tourism and hospitality sector play within the Borough, Coast and Glens Cllr Steven Callaghan said: “Thank you to everyone who attended this event, it helps highlight the key role that marketing opportunities and available play a role in supporting our local tourism businesses to flourish.

“The Council’s Destination Marketing Team continues to work with Tourism NI and Tourism Ireland to promote Causeway Coast and Glens and surrounding areas. The support they provide to our businesses operating in the tourism sector helps us all to welcome the world-class visitors that we are known for here in the Borough.

“Our tourism product is constantly evolving, and the Council’s Destination Team is here to help showcase all our businesses Causeway Coast and Glens to their full potential so that we continue to compete on the global stage as an all-year-round destination.”

Natasha Johnston, Industry Liaison Executive at Tourism Ireland, welcomed the opportunity to be involved.

Afterwards she said: “It’s fantastic to be able to showcase all the different ways our industry partners work together Causeway Coast and Glens and the entire island of Ireland can work with us abroad through our events, partnership programs, advertising and marketing opportunities, as well as publicity and media opportunities in both the business-to-business and business-to-consumer space.”

Nikki Paterson, Business Solutions Manager at Tourism NI spoke to the industry about the opportunities available to local businesses interested in working with the international travel industry “Tourism NI is working with Tourism Ireland and a range of strategic partners to deliver a year-round program of activities in key markets.

“This work provides a wide range of opportunities for companies to engage directly with international tour operators, providing platforms for developing and building relationships to increase growth in international markets.”

Esther Dobbin, regional and investment manager at Tourism NI, provided an update on the new all-island sustainability program due to be launched later this year – it is a partnership between Tourism NI, Tourism Ireland and Failte Ireland. She explained how green credentials can support future business success.
