James Gunn reveals that Man Of Steel director Zack Snyder has been ‘incredibly supportive’ of the DCU changes

DC Universe is currently going through a major change, bringing in new actors and directors for its new superhero projects. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn revealed that Zack Snyder, the director of ‘Man Of Steel’ and ‘Justice League’, has supported the changes being made to DCU. For the unversed, new actors have been cast as Superman and Supergirl.

On Threads, a fan asked James Gunn if he was aware of Zack Snyder’s excitement about DCU. To this, Gunn responded, “I didn’t know that, but I already knew because he texted me. He’s been incredibly supportive through this process.”

Speaking of Supergirl, James Gunn has announced that Milly Alcock has been cast as the new Woman of Steel. Announcing the news, he wrote: “This is true. Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I’m incredibly excited about her being part of the DCU. Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon, but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl. She embodies Kara as @tomking_tk, @bilquis and Ana Nogueira envisioned.

He said in a statement: “In our series, we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the moment he was a baby, versus Supergirl who grew up on a rock, a chip from Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be murdered in horrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl. She’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.

According to reports, Australian filmmaker Craig Gillespie is currently in negotiations to direct ‘Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow’ and more details will be revealed soon.

On the work front, James Gunn most recently directed MCU’s film ‘Guardians Of the Galaxy Vol. 3’.
