Actor Donnie Roelvink announces his conversion to Islam

Donny is known as an influencer, public figure and model and was featured in a viral video on Instagram showing the shahadah in a mosque.

“I don’t think many people noticed that I had a special day yesterday,” Roelvink says in his video message on Instagram, De Telegraaf reports.

“Images were made of this, posted online and widely reported in the media. That was to be expected when I do that in the presence of a large group of people.”

The 26-year-old reality star indicated that he did not mind publishing the video and added that he did not do it himself.

In 2022, Donny was injured while shooting a fitness video with friends. He was run over by a Hummer. He ended up in hospital with five broken ribs and a collapsed lung. He then had to recover for weeks.

This same year he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. These two incidents made him begin to deepen his faith and finally find Islam.

In recent weeks Donny has visited the mosque, observed Ramadan and delved deeply into the Koran for a while.

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. According to research by the Pew Research Center, the number of Muslims will grow more than twice as fast as the total world population between 2015 and 2060.

Last year, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, the reigning ONE Championship flyweight Muay Thai champion, converted to Islam.

German footballer Robert Bauer has converted to Islam and announced the decision on his official Instagram account.
