A case has been registered against Madhavi Latha for alleged outrage over religious sentiment


Hyderabad: A case has been registered against BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Hyderabad Madhavi Latha for allegedly offending the religious sentiments of a particular community during Sri Ramnavami Shobha Yatra held on Wednesday.

The case was registered on a complaint by one Mohd Irfan of First Lancer, who in his complaint alleged that Madhavi Latha had aimed an imaginary arrow at a mosque during Sri Ramnavami Shobha Yatra.


A video of the act of the BJP candidate from Hyderabad went viral on social media platforms, following which there were demands to take legal action against her.

However, Madhavi Latha had said that she had no intention of hurting any community and the video was cropped to suit the designs of some vested interests.

The police have invoked Section 295A of the IPC and 125 of the RP Act against her. “A case is being registered and legal action will follow,” said Begum Bazaar inspector G. Vijay Kumar.
